I know I said I wouldn't get one for awhile for reasons mentioned in an earlier post, but after reading articles about the system, I could not resist.
The first unit I bought was returned due to some dead pixels and some weird scratches on the screen, but the second unit was good. I picked up Need for Speed Rivals as my first game, which I thought would be a good game because it stated it features online gaming, not true (I will explain later). Anyways, as everyone else says, the LCD screen is very nice. Words can't describe how nice it looks, very clear, crisp, and big. The layout of the buttons are laid out pretty nice, except the start & select buttons are hard to get to in the middle of a race. The features are really nice, the mp3 playback, video (UMD & Mpeg 4), picture viewer (only jpeg) and being able to update the firmware (when released) wirelessly with the touch of a button. The storage capability can be expanded to 1 gig, with a Memory Stick pro/Duo, which is plenty of space for many pictures and music albums.
The limited edition system comes packed with: Headphones w/remote, power cable, wrist strap, battery, 32mb duo card, soft padded case, Spider Man 2 (the movie) and a sampler disc filled with movie previews, music videos and game previews. The $250 price tag is not for someone with a tight budget, but I see potential in this little handheld and think it is worth the price.
I will have more insights on this system as I use it more and firmware updates are released to add new features in the coming months. A NFSR review will be posted soon.
